From February 23 to 29, 2008, more than 100 participating restaurants in the Mile-High City offer multi-course meals for only $52.80 a couple ($26.40 for one).
Now in its fourth year, Denver Restaurant Week is bigger and better than ever, with 60 new city-wide eateries participating in the much-anticipated culinary event. If you're passing through the MIle-High City between February 23 and 29, perhaps on either end of a Colorado mountain ski vacation, be sure to build in some time for dining out in Denver. About 170 restaurants are offering some amazing deals.
Since Denver is at 5,280 feet above sea level, it's only appropriate that the affordable multi-course dinners are just $52.80 a couple ($26.40 for one) during this special culinary week. Restaurants include some of the finest, most enduring and most popular dining establishments in town: Denver Chop House, Kevin Taylor's at the Opera House, Ship Tavern at the Brown Palace, Campo de Fiori, McCormick's Fish House & Bar, The Fort Restaurant and Cuba Cuba.
In fact, on the extensive list of all participating restaurants, you'll find nearly every cuisine under the sun: Italian, Mediterranean, Japanese, Mexican and French, to name a few. Sushi joints, microwbrew pubs, wine bars and seafood houses are all on board. So matter what sort of food you're hanking for, and whether you want a romantic meal or a reason to go out with the whole family, you can likely find a deal somewhere in Denver during Restaurant Week.
Most restaurants are offering a soup or salad starter, a steak, seafood, chicken, pasta or vegetarian main dish, and a dessert course. Some are also throwing in alcoholic drinks with the low prix fixe meal. Tax and gratuity are not included. All restaurants are offering their regular a la carte menus during the special culinary week, so you don't need to order the prix-fixe deal if you find something you prefer among the regular offerings.
According to the Denver Convention and Visitors Bureau, which is one of the main sponsors of the event, steak and seafood are the most popular entree items being offered--from sea scallops and lobster tail to strip steak and prime rib au jus. Desserts sound absolutely decadent; choose from chocolate mousse cake with berries and chocolate espresso beans, cinammon and vanilla bean creme brulee, caramel pecan ice cream, huckleberry bread pudding or apple pie a la mode.
Have fun browsing the prix-fixe Denver Restaurant Week menus online. Once you've made your choice, you can often click to the restaurant's specific website to get directions and perhaps make online reservations.
