Planning to visit San Diego during September 2009? Save money when dining out at participating eateries during the city's Fall Restaurant Week.

Restaurant weeks are a great chance to try some of a city’s best fine dining establishments and most popular bistros for a fraction of the cost. It's a fantastic way to add a touch of luxury to any budget traveler’s itinerary without having to empty the wallet.

Pair that with the wonderful selection of award-winning restaurants that a city like San Diego possesses, and one might be tempted to book a trip just to eat.

What are the Details of Restaurant Week in San Diego?

The 2009 fall edition of this event is organized by the San Diego County Chapter of the California Restaurant Association and occurs during the week September 13 through 18.

During this time period, over 180 of the city’s best eateries will offer a three-course prix fixe dinner, which generally consist of an appetizer, an entrée and dessert, for prices that range between $20 to $40 per person. Beverages are traditionally additional, and there are no substitutions. Vegetarian options may be limited but most restaurants will work with the diner if it is discussed at the time reservations are made.

Considering on a normal evening, the entrees alone can be that much, this event offers great dining deals to locals and those vacationing in San Diego during this time period.

What Restaurants are Participating?

As of the publication of this article, a wide variety of dining establishments have signed on to the September 2009 edition of San Diego’s restaurant week.

In the $20 dinner category are such eateries as Café Coyote, Casa Guadalajara, Corvette Diner and Gamers Lounge, and Mister Tiki Mai Tai Lounge.

In the $30 dinner category are selections including Coronado Boathouse 1887, Pampas Argentine Grill, Jai by Wolfgang Puck, and the Firefly Grill.

Finally, representing the $40 dinner category are fine dining establishments such as Ruths Chris Steak House Del Mar, Nobu San Diego, Roy’s La Jolla, JRDN Restaurant, and The Fleetwood.
